Happy New year!!

Happy New year everyone! I hope the New Year bring you alot of joy and good health. Let's all make a goal to live our lives the best we can. Be it helping others, bringing joy, or just being happy with ourselves as we are. I know that I need to be more positive sometimes. That will be one of my goals. another would be to be more community minded, getting out there and doing something to help others. I am very blessed already and I know it. I have a few ideas on what I can do to be more community concious. But now I have to narrow it down to do-able. ( I don't know if that is really a word in that spelling LOL).
I put a link in here for some New Year superstitions. I never heard of these before. Some are very do-able.  Some are funny. Just thought they were fun to read.

Need to see what acolor looks like in a room

http://dutchboy.swatchbox.com/sears/main.asp

I found this awhile back and thought it would come in handy in a real life home or a miniature house. You choose the color and it puts up a picture of what it looks like. I think you can change the furniture color also, but not sure. But I like as it shows just how light or dark the color actually is. There are hundreds of choices. Not that I counted them as the way they have them is very close togeather. But if you click on a line all the colors come up in that color range and you click on each one to see how they look. I know that I am not explaining this to well. But trust me it is kind of fun to play with.
Cloudy today. We are suppose to get about an inch of snow. An inch I can handle, but not another 16 inches like we received a couple of weeks ago!
I have a 3 day weekend coming up. I really want to work on to work on the Bellingham. One more room to paper. Plus some wainscot to put up, then some flooring to do.
I got my HBS catalog yesterday and there are a few things I am thinking about getting that will fit in with Auntie Gerties way of living. Things that will fit in with the 30's/40's. I am thinking of doing her house in a tough lady who has survived so many tragities in her life. Maybe taking in boarders to make a little money and take some of her boredoom away. Not that she isn't busy with all the things she does in her dailey living. Just nice to have other people around. That is the plan so far.

Games for when we get older

GAMES FOR WHEN WE ARE OLDER

1. Sag, you're It.

2. Hide and go pee.

3. 20 questions shouted into your good ear.

4. Kick the bucket

5. Red Rover, Red Rover, the nurse says Bend Over.

6. Musical recliners.

7. Simon says something incoherent.

8. Pin the Toupee on the bald guy

I think I am there sometimes. LOL.
There is a book that I want to try to find at the library. One Lucky Kid by Maxine Hagen Renaker. It looks interesting. A book she put together from her journaling.
Just waiting for time to go back to work. Still sore, but not nearly as bad. But it could be a worst problem.
I can't believe that it is the end of dec. already. This year really flew!

Raggedy Ann and Andy

These are hard to find in miniature! I think they would make a cute roombox scene. I'll have to look at Chicago if I go next spring. I found a set last spring and should have bought some of the items that she was selling. They say hind sight is 20/20. The Chicago International is so nice and HUGE! You could get lost in there. If anyone knows of a printie site or company that sells them let me know. Thank you.
It actually turned out to be nice out today. Cold but sunny. We had some errands to do, so we got those out of the way. We also picked up a few fish for one of the aquariums. I hope everyone else had a nice day today. Hugs, Teresa

Back to work

Back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks of inflammed ribs. Still sore but I think I will be for awhile yet. Just saw the Dr this morning.
Then I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few things for the dollhouse. Material for beds, lace for windows and a canopy bed, chair rail wood and a few other odds ands ends. Nothing too exciting.
Windy out there today. Really push the car around.
We're suppose to get crappy weather agin later today. But it is winter here in Wisconsin so not unexpected.
Not sure what I will get done today. Jeff is off. He is cleaning fish tanks this morning. But I am sure that he will want to go somewhere later. So I had better get some things done while I can.

Marley And Me / Gertie

We just got done watching that movie. How sad was that ending!! It brought back memories of when I had to put animals to sleep. I don't think I will be watching that movie again. Unless I need to cry.
Well so far I have had two ideas from people about who Gertie should be. Both have her being an older women who has gone through a rough life. Both times she has lost an husband and one says she has lost a child also. Lost husbands to war, etc. Depression era.  Then another one said that she looks like a man with a dress on. I could put different clothes on her and tie back her hair like some men with their grey pony tails. Still looking for ideas. I do like the widow stories so far. But open to ideas. But I do think that she may get a different hair-do. Not sure yet.

Meet Auntie Gertie

Auntie Gertie lives by my computer. She is suppose to tell me what she wants in her house. Bellingham Farmhouse. But she hasn't been real helpful yet. Still waitng to see if she tells me that she is married or if she just got the house after her folks passed away.

I just love the face on her. If you have any ideas put them in the comment section under the post. Maybe she took in boarders. If she is married I will have to find a old man that looks like he could be her husband. I think she has a sad, worried look. But there is a glimps of a smile there. What do you think? Pictures aren't the greatest my camera is going!

Our "boys" in the snow.

I took some new pictures of our 8 year old English Cocker Spanial Murphy and our 3 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi Tanner. They were palying in the new snow so much it was hard to get them to stay still for a picture.

Murphy says o.k. I'll sit still just long enough for a shot.
Tanner is to busy seeing what his brother is up to.
OH this snow feels so good!!!

Time for a nap.
Tanner likes to find small hills from Jeff shoveling the paths that he can turn over on his back on and slide down. Both dogs like to try to catch snowballs.

Lazy day today

Just feel lazy today. Got a late start. Been on the computor since. Still trying to figure some things out so that I am not just talking to myself. LOL. Light snow today. But at least the road looks like we didn't get sleet. It could use a plowing though.
I am listening to a Susan Boyle CD and it will probably stay in the palyer for awhile. I am like that I play a CD for awhile and then I put a new one in. (or old one). I had Lady Antabellum in before this one. I really like Susan. Such a simple lady with a beautiful voice. According to her CD jacket she had promised her mother before her mother died that she would make something of herself. I think she has done it! In the cover there is also a note describing what each song means to her. Beautiful thoughts. I really feel that she just wants to sing and let people listen to beautiful music. Hopefully she will be able to centered and love the simple things in life.
Must watch my time as I need to take my blood reading soon. A little high but not to bad. Especially with the holidays here. We recieved alot of candy from my in-laws. I took it with me to the Christmas get together. I handed it out to all my sisters and brothers. I told Jeff that I don't want it in the house. I am not good with all that temptation around! I had one dove candy bar and felt a little sick. I could tell that I am not use to eating candy bars anymore. YUCK! Now if I could just get that way about chips!!! Good during the day, but late at night I get where I want something that I shouldn't eat. Working on that.
Have a good day everyone.

Merry Christmas Everyone

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Everyone except one of my sister and her family and one nephew and his family were able to make it, 2 nephews were missing also. One because of the weather south of us.. We also have a nephew that mom saw for the first time in about a dozen years or so about 2 weeks ago. He is about 35 now and his sister was able to track him down using the internet. He wasn't able to make it here either. But with having 7 brothers and sisters there were alot of us there today. We always have potluck so there was a nice variety of food. It is funny when we all get together at some point stories of our lives as kids comes up. Mom is still learning about some of the things we did. LOL. My dad passed away 3 years ago and of course stories come up about him also. So there is always things to laugh about. The weather even cooperated as we had rain instead of the snow/freezing rain we were suppose to get. It is almost midnight now and it is sleeting now. Not too bad a fine mist. So I hope anyone still traveling now and in the next few days has a safe trip.
I had mentioned above about my nephew that we haven't seen in about a dozen or so years. He had run away when he was in his later teens and hooked up with a carneval. For years we didn't even know where he was. Some of my nieces, sisters and parents had seen him at a fair about 15 years ago. Then he moved on with the carneval again. We did find out about him living about an hour away at one time until he got wanerlust again. It was very hard not knowing if he was even alive yet. But my mom has always prayed that she would see him again and her prayers were answered. The girl friend he has now has promised that he will be in touch with us more often. Even though I haven't seen him. Prayers were answered. This summer he is suppose to be at fairs within in area of 2 hours of us. So hopefully I will get to see him then.
You will see that sometimes one thought turns in different directions. From Christmas to my nephew. But days like this makes memories come around.
Now I will leave you on this wet night with a picture that I took this past summer.

Latest contest photo.

Here is a picture of my latest contest build. This is for HBS (Hobby builder's Supply). This is Queen Nefertiti's room. She is a queen of ancient Rome. I think the cheriot came out pretty good. I was worried at first that it might be too big for the area. I had alot of fun doing this build. Even if I couldn't find the wheels that I had stored away. My husband was kind enough to run to Hobby Lobby and buy me some more while I was at work. He said that it was alot easier then trying to look through all my miniatures. LOL. It did make me organize my stash though and wouldn't you know it they were in the first box I opened! Whoops. But I do need another set for the house that I am working on now. They will be part of the landscaping. At least that is the plan now. In miniature as in life things have a way of changing. I will leave you here with another picture of the contest. You can see part of the fabric doorway. They loved bright fabrics. On the right side there is another statue and a picture. Of course she has to have a fan for her servant to wave over her as she realaxes. It was fun to research Roman life. I wish I would have made her stolla (white part of clothing) a little longer. I might change that yet. Well good night. Teresa

WOW!

I am still not sure what I am doing. I think I need blogging for dumbies. Guess I will learn as I go along.
I think it stopped sleeting. Maybe the weather will turn out good for the holidays after all. Keeping my fingers crossed. It should be a big group tomorrow. It looks like all 8 of my siblings and Mom will be there. With all the nieces and nephews, husbands, wives, there should be about 30 people. If the weather isn't good we will meet on saturday. Which means not everyone will be able to make it.
O.k. talking to myself now. Think I will go get something done on the Bellingham Dollhouse.

Life is like that

This is my first time blogging. I am hoping to make this interesting. I have just finished another contest in miniature. This one for Hobby Builders Supply. I will try to put a picture in soon. I love coming up with the ideas for the contests. I also am able to try out different techniques. Contest provide me with a chance to think outside the box. I love my houses, but sometimes I need to do something a little different. Now to wait until feb. or march to see who will win. But I feel that we are all winners as we take a chance each time we enter.
I haven't done to much else lately but make bread and figure out what my husband can eat. He has to go on a gluten free diet for 6 months to see if he is allergic or has celiac disease. Or it may turn out to be neither. But he says he feels a little better already. Man those different flours are expensive! But if he feels better it is worth it. Now to try to combine his diet with my diabetic one. At least I can't eat his bread...YUCK. He doesn't mind it though. Old dogs can learn new tricks. LOL Well I guess I had better go get a few things made for Christmas meal. Pot luck so no one has to do it all.
